Frequently asked questions
No, Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention. You remain aware, in control and able to speak throughout the session. Hypnotherapy does not involve mind control or unconsciousness.
Yes. Research suggests hypnotherapy can be effective when delivered online, particularly for stress-related difficulties, sleep problems and behavioural patterns such as emotional eating. Sessions are tailored to your goals and focus on practical, forward-looking change.
You will not be asleep when hypnotised. Hypnosis is generally a very relaxed state but it is not sleep. You will always be aware of what is happening.
No, you cannot be hypnotised to do anything you do not want to do. During a solution-focussed hypnotherapy session, I will not be 'doing to you, or telling you what to do' we will be working together pre-trance for you to determine what your goals are for the session. Hypnotherapy enables you to enter a relaxed state where you are able to access the vast intellectual resource within you to come up with your own solutions.
The number of sessions you will require depends very much on your individual circumstances. On average, people who are suffering with anxiety, depression and their related conditions usually need between 8-12 sessions, but for some it has been as few as 4 sessions whilst for others it has been a lot more. Smoking cessation is 1 session and Simple Phobias take 4 sessions.
Please give me as much notice as possible if you are unable to make an appointment. This enables me to reschedule and book in people from the waiting list. If 24 hours notice are not given, then the full session fee will apply.
